Airplane

Airplane The airplane event has been called the most physically demanding competition of the Northern Games; it is so demanding that participants are limited to one attempt. Requiring perfect control and great physical strength, athletes must flex their muscles and keep their arms and legs extended while three people carry them over a 25-foot square grid.

The player will begin from the prone position on the floor with legs and feet together and arms extended at the right angles to the body. Three assistants designated by the officials will lift the player well clear of the floor by grasping the ankles and each wrist. The player will then be carried over the course with limbs rigid and fully extended.

A player is eliminated when they are no longer able to hold the proper rigid position assumed at the beginning of the carry. The judges will time each carry and the player with the longest time will be declared the winner.
